Late Sun
Full Sky
These 7am sunrises make for dark mornings. Add a little cloud to the horizon and you'll already be on your way home before the sun peeks out for the day. While there wasn't much light on the sand this morning, a band of cloud out to sea was catching the first light of the day adding some mellow pink and orange to the sky. Certainly been some nice sunrise viewing lately.
If you caught a glimpse of the ocean yesterday afternoon you might have been surprised by the size and strength of the swell; some were calling it +5 foot at Curly! Interestingly the long-period swell was generated way down in Antartica in an area usually covered in sea ice. Craig Brokensha's write-up's always make for interesting reading and this one's an eye-opener for many reasons. Have a read.
The swell has eased overnight and the high-tide was adding all sorts of wobbles to it at Freshie this morning. There were waves but it was tricky to surf. With the wind currently a light sou'wester I'd say somewhere has fun waves right now.
