South Island Sampler
Kia Ora!
We’ve been offline wondering the mountains and remote coastlines of our brothers and sisters across the Tasman. The South Island of New Zealand is a phenomenally beautiful slice of earth; enormous landscapes of towering mountain peaks, cool blue lakes, rolling green hills of grass and forests and rugged coastlines. Depending of what level of comfort you’re willing to leave behind, there’s something for everyone.
This trip has felt something like a sampler, just a tasting of what the South Island has to offer. We’ve camped our way from Christchurch, through the lakes of Tekapo, and Wanaka, hiked a 1000 metres of vertical to Muller’s Hut to gaze at glaciers and Aorkai up close and briefly brushed the coast down south in the Catlins.
Here’s a little visual taster for you. I'm back in Manly on Friday; looks like a sunny day and light offshore. Catch you then...
