The south end of Manly beach is usually a hive of activity, but at this time of year it really comes alive. Swimmers, surfers, walkers, stretchers, sitter all converge to move the body, soak up a little morning sunshine, get their fix of salty goodness, and pat the dogs they know by name. It's a lively scene of health and happiness from pre-dawn til darkness and probably the heart of the Manly community.

I had a wander down the south end today to see if any nor'east wind swell was getting in there and I can tell you there wasn't a whole lot to surf. Just the odd weak runner for the super keen - maybe the mid-to-high tide could have a little more on offer.
