Relative Calm

Monday Sun Day

That was a pretty crazy weekend for the beaches huh?! Manly was jammed packed, Freshie was wall-to-wall and I imagine everywhere with sand and easy access to water anywhere in Sydney would have had an increase in traffic. This morning the crowds have dispersed but the stellar weather and warmth remain; we've got three more days up above 30˚ before a cool change sweeps through on Thursday.

There was a little bit of peakiness to the swell today. It's dropped off a touch from yesterday but the shape seems to have improved. Tomorrow we're bacl to 1ft of east swell so it might be slim pickings.

There's a mix of swells out on the ocean this morning. 3ft of ENE and a long-period 1ft south swell seem to be combining every now and then for a decent peak. Relative sustained calm then a rare 3 footer...

There's a bit going on locally and in the world of surfing this week. Here's a few things to keep an eye on:

  • Event #3 in the World Longboard Tour kicking off in El Salvador. From what Declan's been posting on his social media it looks like it's been pumping! Tully & Declan will be hoping to post good results to secure a spot in the final 8 to surf in the wold title deciding event at Malibu in October.

  • SurfAid are hosting a showing of The Greatest Surf Movie In The Universe at Harbord Hotel Wednesday night. Ticket proceeds go to SurfAid, get them here

  • Patagonia Manly are hosting a screening and panel discussion of their hard-core gardening/surf film Farm Boys. It's a free event but you'll need to register for a ticket
