Anyone that surfed this morning will probably tell you that today's photos don't tell the real story. On paper all the elements were there; easing 3-5ft east swell, dropping tide and a surprise unscheduled offshore straight out of the west. It should have been and could have been good; really good. But all those elements didn't seem to be coming together. Sure, there was the odd good one, but it was a morning characterised by lumpy swell, pinching half-barrels and closeouts. At least that was my experience.

With that said, as I was leaving the beach the swell was starting to look more organised and hitting the banks a little better. Maybe it's worth another look....
