Bushfire Season

Pale Pink Line Up - Yesterday afternoon

Yesterday was bizarre. I can't ever remember a week where not only are we fixated on the fires currently burning, but bushfires are being forecast like the weather. I guess it makes sense when you have single figure humidity and strong, hot winds blowing across drought affected land and tinder-dry bushland. It's a nightmarish scenario and my thoughts go out to the Firey's on the frontline and those that have lost loved ones and homes. You get the feeling it's not the last time we're going to see the Catastrophic Fire Rating this summer. Can we get a little rain please Huey?

Ironically, like cyclones, the winds that fan the bushfires are the same winds that groom the waves into a favourable form for us indulgent surfers. Yesterday afternoon, under an otherworldly orange haze of smoke and dust, fun little peeler peaked along our stretch of sand... that was until a Southerly buster chopped it to pieces.

Local Happenings:

  • All-time legend Mick Freeman from Fix8 has just delivered a truckload of donated good to the the bushfire affect area south of Forster. He'll do another load next week so stay tuned for details on how you can help or tune into their instagram

  • Tonight Blaek Store is hosting a night of chat and environmental magic in celebration of National Recycling Week. Come see what Indosole are doing with recycled tyres and listen to some inspiring stories. Should be entertaining too! Detail here!

  • 2020 Sprout Daily Calendars are in stock! Order your online for delivery or local pick up or drop in and buy one of the counter at Patagonia Manly.

Ok, that's probably all now... see you early tomorrow.
