By midday yesterday the swell had jumped to a proper double-overhead with 4 wave sets streaming through from Queenscliff Bombie to the beach. It caught me off guard and the guys walking up the sand with broken boards and snapped leashes must have been at least a little rattled too. This morning's its settled a touch but there's still no shortage of swell.
If surfing's on your agenda today then I reckon there's going to be a magic window sometime before the sou'easter gets up and tide drops too low. Right now it's still a light offshore and we're an hour after high. Could be worth another look...
Looks like we've got a solid swell building in the Tasman and pointed at the East Coast for the weekend. Coastalwatch is calling 6-8ft come sunrise on Sunday with light easterly winds - can we get a little offshore in the morning please! Sounds like a fair reason to drop in and see Tim, Pito and Eddie at the Aloha Spring Sale. It's on today until Sunday.
