:: Remembering June
If you ever walked the beach front of Manly anytime after dawn there's a good chance you may have walked through the radiance of June Kilmister. June's was walking the Manly promenade way before I started taking photos but it didn't take long for us to become acquainted. Flowers in Spring, sweets for the kids, reindeer antlers at Christmas, her own Christmas breakfast and of course dressed in full Balmain Tigers attire during the footy season. I was never quite sure whether her support for the Tigers was just a ploy to instigate some banter and stir the Manly locals, she was from Nimbin after all. Yes, June was an instigator all right! She instigated a smile every time you walked past her, she instigated joy in the kids and adults alike with her treats and sweets and instigated community when she hosted her annual Christmas Breakfast.
Sadly June passed away last Friday with her family by her side. This Friday (tomorrow), there will be a service to celebrate June's extraordinary life at the Queenscliff Surf Life Saving Club at 10:30am. By June's request, colourful attire and no flowers please.
