Manly goes ghoulish for Halloween!

Halloween is today and Manly is going to be a sea of cobwebs and lighting Jack o’ lanterns this afternoon. Get ready for tiny witches, vampires and other creepy crawlers prowling the streets for lollies. This year, the celebrations will be highlighted with a festive Halloween Trick or Treat event on The Corso. Manly businesses are inviting parents and their young children to dress up in their scariest, fanciest, or most adorable outfit and trick or treat stores today from 2pm – 3pm… just look for the Halloween stickers on participating shop windows.

Meegan Clancy, event organiser said “this is by far my favourite event of the year… previously we’ve had over 700+ children participating with Manly turning into a scene from Harry Potter.”

Halloween has been celebrated in many different forms over the years and is growing in popularity in Australia. It is believed to have originated with the Celtics with the end of harvest and some Americans continue with this tradition in calling it a Harvest celebration. All in all, it’s a fun holiday to celebrate with family. And honestly, who doesn’t want to dress up as a giant pumpkin and collect a bucket full of free candy?

Stores also get into the ghoulish spirit with staff in fancy dress and windows decorated accordingly. “It’s a lovely way for the businesses to give to the community, and you can’t help but smile when a 3year old pumpkin waddles into your store” said Clancy.
