Two days out from the first hooter of the 2017 Australia Open of Surfing the local grom pack are getting limber and stepping up their game. This weekend there will be plenty of locals involved in the AOS Sydney Grom Challenge and the Local Trials when the best of North Steyne Boardriders go up again the best of QBC for a single remaining spot in the main event. A little Nor-East wind swell has blown up overnight. It's only 2ft but there's plenty of waves and enough punch for the grommet to get loose on crumbling lips and wedgey ramps.
