The Australian Open of Surfing kicked off this morning and there's a chunky short period wind swell to welcome the competitors. No shortage of waves but it's a complex mix of lumps, bumps and hidden rip bowls. Surfers are going to have to have their wave selection compass on point and their end game sharp. Women are in the water right now - Watch Live Over the weekend local surfer George Pittar added the U16 Sydney Grom Challenge to his trophy cabinet and former 'CT Surfer Dayyan Neve took out the local challenge to secure the Wildcard and last remaining spot in the main event. Heat One, Round One this afternoon if you want roll out your old banners!

Ozzie Wright will be doing Live Art at The Steyne tonight as paint of the Volcom Riders Week take-over.
