:: Dancing in the Darkness
If you want to surf before work these day you've got to be up early. Up at dark, down the beach and paddling out 30 or 40 minutes before Sunrise picking up the swells as just shadows moving through the smooth offshore conditions. Benny's been in the water before I've made it down to the beach everyday this week, probably before most people are even out of the cot. But he loves surfing and it shows in the way he surfs. Today is International Surfing Day and it's all about loving surfing, and all things that surfing means to those that surf. It's different to different people but universally it seems to be an extremely positive experience to those that part take. There's a decent South Swell out there today and anywhere that's exposed to a South Swell should be 4 foot plus. Despite the swell, I choose to hang out down at the South End and enjoy what was on offer down there. Even though it was only 1 foot there was still plenty of stoke floating around. It's not always the biggest or the best waves that deliver the most. Sometimes surfing's all about sitting in the line up with just your mates watching the sunrise, sometimes it's about taking on 15 foot rock ledge beasts. Enjoy surfing your way.
Happy International Surfing Day!
