:: Classy
The Australian Open of Surfing kicked off over the weekend in style with some fun contestable waves and buckets of sunshine. Crowds turned out in droves to lap up the sunshine and get a peak of the action that's going to be going down at Manly for the next 7 days. The Juniors took to the water and surfed with so much flair and speed it makes you wonder what the main event will hold. World Junior Champion Matt Banting from Port Macquarie was a standout in all of his heats and blew some minds with his free-surfing displays. Keep an eye on this kid; if you can keep up! He surfs so fast! Some fun clean waves around this morning for the opening round of the ladies competition. The wind's forecast to blow from the SE for the rest of the day so there should be some semi-cross-shore waves for the rest of the day's competition. Similar conditions for tomorrow. Get down and check it out.
There's plenty going on in the evening this week. Tomorrow eveniing we're throwing the love out on Valentines Day for Local Love at The Surfing World Bar (Charlie Bar). On Wednesday's our mates from The Shop Next Door & Deus are throwing a huge night at with Step Panther and Millions playing at The Moonshine Bar at The Steyne. Come on down and party with us - all welcome!
