Bay Blues
Sometimes the sun doesn't shine like it does in the brochures. That's what's going on right now out here on the most easterly point of the Australian mainland. The blues of Byron have more of a greyish tint as showers shift across the horizon and the Easterly wind sneaks around the corner. Dive underwater though and it's clear and warm and there isn't a drop of rain or gust of onshore to be seen!
But a little rain and a bit of wind in the face won't spoil the party up here in Byron. The waves are still fun and the East swell is running down the point with just a couple of bumps in the mix.
The weekend is set to be a wholesome celebration of surf culture as the Byron Surf Festival sets up the yurt, waxes up the 11 footers and glides on through town with talks, markets, artshows, music and all things ocean orientated. This is my first one; looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.
