Moon Rise
Full moon rises are one of the celestial treats that I look forward to each month. On a clear evening, with a gentle offshore and a couple of surfers enjoying a glassy late session, witnessing the moon rise over the ocean almost seems other-worldly and one of the best reminders of our place in the universe. Today's full moonrise will begin at 7:19pm and will happen in the partial shadow of the earth; by 9:16 the moon with be fully immersed in the earth's shadow for the first luna eclipse of 2022. Increased aerosols lingering in the stratosphere since Toga's Hunga-Tonga-Hunga-Ha’apai volcano eruption could add some red to the luna eclipse for a blood moon.
If you're up for a swim today I can vouch that it's worth it! The water's warmed up and it's reasonably clear despite recent rains. Go swim, there's not a whole lot happening surfing-wise...
Fingers crossed for a clear sky this evening.
