Deep South
Curl Curl at First Light
There's a pretty spectacular south swell blasting up the coast today. Amazing how quickly and intensely the low has generated this swell; yesterday it was tiny and when I checked the cams before bed last night Manly look like a moonlit lake. Right now, the Botany Bay buoy is reading significant wave heights (the top third of waves) at close to 8m with max heights around 13. That's a big swell not matter where you are in the world!
I took a drive around the grounds this morning looking for action and angles. I saw a wave break at least 2k's out to sea on a mysto bombie off Curl Curl, Germans & Frenchmans at Long Reef were massive but battered by winds and when I pulled up at North Narrabeen Matt Grainger and Tom Carroll were scratching over a bomb set! A lot of energy and power on display. The swell is very south; south enough for a leisurely swim in 1 footers at South Steyne or to battle 20 foot faces up the road... the choice is yours.
