Good Good Friday

Autumn Bright

A rainy Wednesday seems like a good time to flashback to a Good Good Friday that may well go down in the annals as one of the best days of surfing at Queenscliff Bombie. On a day where a lifetime of commitment to chasing waves of significance was the defining ingredient to success, one historical ride by homegrown Freshwater charger Tom Myers stood out. There's a couple of angles of the wave circulating, both video and stills which show the mangnitude of the wave and commitment of surfer coming together in perfect harmony. If you want a deeper insight into both, give yourself ten minutes to read Craig's wrap and interview with Tom on Swellnet

I missed THE wave by about 20 minutes when I stepped home for a coffee. I'm told it was one of the last waves ridden during the zenith of the swell's energy.  The opening picture from today along with a sequence of 20 or so images is perhaps the second best wave of the session by another local underground charger, Sam Jones. You can catch the full sequence on Instagram here (best viewed on your phone by holding and dragging the dots)

Enjoy the rain; we've got a few more days of it.
