Escape?
The rain's back, the ground is saturated and the lagoons and stormwater drains are flowing again. Just when the water was clearing up, the ocean has turned a deeper shade of brown at Queenscliff. If you're keen, yesterday's east swell is hanging in there at waist-to-shoulder-high although the high-tide. Fun to be had if you want to run the soupy gauntlet.
Instead of ducking and weaving the rain this morning, I thought I'd take you on a brief escape to the Southern Atolls of the Maldives where we travelled at the beginning of the month. If empty white sand beaches, islands skirted with coral reefs and deep blue water is your idea of paradise, you'll find infinite vistas in this remote pocket of the Indian Ocean. Add perfect waves, warm water and fresh fish and the indulgence is real!
But How? With international travel back on the cards The Maldives is a day's flight away and one the easiest to access for vaccinated travellers. Airlines may require a PCR test but The Maldives has no quarantine requirements for travel in either direction. Add to that the general isolation of a boat trip (or island resort stay) and you've got one of the safest, easiest passages back to international travel. We travelled earlier this month and the experience was a breeze.
I'm heading back in July, this time on Carpe Vita in the Central Atolls and there's still 3 spots available! Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions or head straight to Perfect Wave Travel to get the details.
