Soupy
Well, that was a full weekend plus of waves and wintery weather. I spent most of the weekend at my "real job" getting people suited up in Patagonia wetsuits and puffy jackets so they could handle the outdoors. Yep, the doors of Patagonia Manly are back open after 8 weeks of COVID closure. Good thing they timed the opening with the biggest swell in a while... ha, always happens!
So yeah, I missed a bit of the action over the weekend - sometimes you get that. I'm sure your social media has been alight with visions of Kelly Slater surfing Avalon and Deadman's, rock-off mishaps and proper size waves everywhere from Bronte to Byron Bay and beyond. The whole East Coast has come alive! Even both coast of our cuzzy's over in NZ have been a pumping! Can we travel yet? I'm soooo ready to flee the city!
Today's update comes from the soup bowl sand bank off the North Steyne pipe. You got your money's worth today folks, I think I coped 20 set waves on the head and struggled against a rip heading to New Zealand for about an hour before I capitulated and washed back on the sand.
The swells fading but it's a slow fade... plenty of energy left out there. I'll see you tomorrow.
