First Light at Manly Dam

Tom Batrouney is a local surfer and eco-runner on mission to save wild places. Tom's latest endeavour "Project Run Forever" is possible his loftiest to date with a goal of raising half a million dollars For Wild Places & Seabin Project. On January 21 2022 Tom will start with a lap of Manly Dam with a pledge to keep running while donations are still flowing... potentially forever!

This morning Tom and I took a light jog around Manly Dam, the scene of Tom's Project Run Forever. It's ironic that an area in which a dam irreversibly altered the flow of the creek, it's construction ensured the protection of much of the immediate catchment's bushland preserving a thriving nature reserve in the heart of suburbia. Manly Dam is a sanctuary for birds, retiles, wild flowers and small mammals but also a place where we can be reminded of the beauty of being fully immersed in nature, even on a quick trail run, walk or ride just a short way from home.

Today's post is a break from the usual, a run with Tom as he starts out on his forever mission. You can follow Tom's journey and support him by clicking here.

Waves you ask? I did pop in for a little peek on the way home... looks like some fun ones!
