Sea Level

The best place to watch the sunrise is floating at sea level, the water around you reflects the sky and you get double the colour and double the light. This morning's was a special one! Broad brushstrokes of vivid pinks and oranges against a cool blue northern sky created the most beautiful reflections and silhouettes on the water. These are the mornings that make all the early wake ups worth it. Front row seats to a light show that only nature can conjure.

Ten minutes after the most vivid light you could imagine the sky had faded to bluey grey and my attention turned to the waves. It's smaller than yesterday and there's a wonkiness to the swell that's making it tricky; tricky to catch them and tricky to read. It feels like there has been some northerly wind on the Tasman overnight adding bump and an underlining short-period swell.

Maybe it'll improve with a little time... but I don't mind either way, feeling a little blissed/surfed out already.
