Spike
A big spike in south swell hit Sydney after dark yesterday with the buoys ramping up from under 2 metres to almost 6 in a matter of a couple of hours. With light offshore winds and solid swell all signs were pointing to an epic morning on on the Sydney offshore reefs... problem is the swell dipped before sunrise and a rising tide wasn't helping. At 6am I only saw one wave feather at the Queenscliff Bombora in 30 minutes... too south, too small. Bummer.
The WSL Challenger Series event up at Narrabeen has 4 heats left to run and word is it's going to run soon. With 4m of south swell Carpark Rights should be serving up some throaty tubes and sandy slabs. Keep an eye on the website for an official update on starting times... could make for interesting viewing.
The wind's supposed to angle around from the north later so the bombies might get a second window on the afternoon low. Fingers crossed.
