Wispy setting a rail

This morning I took a stroll over the headlands and linked up with the newly opened McTavish Brookvale crew and fair-weather surfer Wispy from the shores of sub-tropical Byron Bay. Wispy loves a bit of warm water and open space so there was a period of adjustment before he settled in to his Sydney surfing experience.

Conditions are super glassy and while the swell's dropped a touch on yesterday, there's still the odd 3 and a half foot peak. Just about everywhere loves a light westerly so options are plentiful.

The Belgrave Cafe outpost at McTavish is now open for post-surf coffee, jaffles and board debriefs. If you're in the Eastern Suburbs or fancy a trip over the bridge, Wispy and the McTavish staff will be hosting a screening of Dreading South, the journey into the cold waters of NZ, at Sunburnt Mess tonight with a board demo tomorrow morning at Bondi. Stellar times!
