The wind we've been preparing for all week is now howling past our window and the south swell is on the rise. Queenscliff had sets a little overhead at first light and I imagine it's got to be at least twice that a headland or two to the north.

Considering we had a 6am low tide and dead south swell I was surprised how surfable it was this morning at Manly. I'd say one in five waves had some taper to it - not bad!? Right now the wind is a gusty westerly and it's going to strengthen and swing slow to the south throughout the day. The tide's rising, and the swell is expected to double by this afternoon. So, the question is where do you reckon?
