Good morning, happy Monday and welcome to Summer. The current weather situation has snow in the Australian Alps, bushfires threatening some of our favourite beaches on the South Coast and smoke haze once again in Sydney. Is the weird and wonderful world of meteorology getting even more bizarre?

In Sydney the Tasman is ironing board flat from sand to horizon this morning. There's only the faintest of swells adding a little rise and fall over the sand banks every now and then. Surfable? Probably depends on your definition.

The good news is we're in for an extended run of south swell which should last through the week and beyond. Manly probably won't see too much action but there'll be waves over the hill and beyond.
