High Expectations
Expectations were riding high this morning. Forecasts were written, elements arrived and in the end it might have been a touch overstated. By all means it's solid. The Port Authority Buoy is showing some serious numbers but proper waves were few and far between.
From my vantage at Queenscliff at dawn there was plenty of raw southern energy wrapping in under the cliffs of The Bower Carpark and tickling the depths of the Queenscliff Bombora. By the time I ducked out for a closer inspection my two hours in the water only yielded a handful of waves and nothing to match the hype. It made for a user-friendly kind-of-a-swim in a usually not-so-user-friendly environment.
Maybe we haven't seen the full height of the swell... maybe we have. Either way, there should be waves for days.
