Clouded Over

First Light Ten

Our run of blue sky and sunshine has abruptly come to an end. If you were out and about early, you would have seen the last of the sunshine before the clouds took over the skyways. Sydney has been clouded over and they're going to hang around for a couple of days. We might even get the odd sprinkle of rain.

If you've been surfing anytime since the last big south swell, you'd realise how much sand's been shifted around. The straight line of shallow sand we had for most of summer and autumn has given way to a series of deep rips and shallow sandbanks. There's so much water moving, even in this small swell you can find yourself getting dragged out to sea or standing in knee-deep water 50m from shore! The new sand formation has added numerous surfing options along our little stretch of sand, but you'll need a little experience under your belt to find the runners. If you're new to the game, the rips and the super shallow sandbanks can be somewhere between a struggle and treacherous. It's all part of the fun of surfing and enjoying the energy of the ocean.

Enjoy!
