Reflection

Wispy Sky

It's a beautiful day out there; sunshine, warmth and a small, surfable little nor'east wind swell. I swam out at dawn this morning totally oblivious to the tragedy that unfolded at Little Bay, near Maroubra yesterday afternoon. We all know and accept the dangers of the ocean but we continue to surf, swim, dive and fish regardless because there's a special power and calm we experience while immersed. Today, like every other day, was no exception. Our sincere condolences are with the family, friends and those close to the young man that lost his life in the ocean yesterday.  The first fatal shark encounter in Sydney waters in 60 years.

We're heading to 31 degrees in Sydney today, a perfect summers day, a day that would usually be full of care-free swimming, surfing and ocean recreation. Today I'm sure will day of contemplation, reflection and consideration around our place in the ocean.

Take care.
