Freedom

Light Grind

This morning's post is a mixed bag of light and water with a health dose of gritty sand rinsed through. We've got swell and it's offshore, but there's only the odd one that you'd call surfable. There's so much sand on the banks right now, it's dangerously straight and shallow! On more than one occasion this morning I found myself in knee-deep water with a head-high slab of sand and water heaving at my head - got rattled a few times!

Low tide has passed now and water is starting to cover the bank again - hopefully that'll add a little more surfability to the swell. Fingers crossed!

Today sees the first significant easing of communal gathering restrictions since the 'rona hit our shores. You can hang with your mates (unless you've got more than 9) and even score a seat at your favourite cafe or restaurant (but you'd better book in quick!) Full details of the new rules here

Enjoy the new found freedom but keep your distance - we don't want to go back to how we were!
