Crazy how half a metre of long period swell shows up on our beaches! The jump in swell coincided with a full tide with sets surging way up past the high-tide mark and creating a great deal of turbulence just off the beach. The extra energy in the ocean made the leisurely morning dip pretty dicey but offered a welcome relief to surfers that have been holding out for a decent wave for weeks.
Right now the wind is west-south-west and there's some chunky overhead waves about. Worth a paddle while the swell hangs in there. If you want real juice it'd be solid at south-facing beaches I'd say.
This Sunday the crew at Smiling Sun will be launching Episode #1 of Livelihood. Host Jarrad Howse guides us on journeys into hidden pockets of regions bursting with produce, producers and people living their dream and making it a livelihood. The first episode focuses on the Northern Beaches and I'm stoked and honoured to feature along side a bunch of people doing good things on The Beaches. The series premieres with a screening at Berkelo Kitchen Terrey Hills this Sunday from 4pm. Word on the street is they do an epic pizza! - Come along and join us.
