The Early
Early start to the Sydney Surf Pro today. I was just about to swim out for a look at the contest bank when the beach announcers made the call a start to Heat 1, Round Four; the sun hadn't even risen yet! I guess they're trying to get through as many heats as they can before the high-tide puts a hold on the waves again.
It's been a slow, incremental drop in swell across the week and today's the smallest we've had. Conditions were as glassy as they get but the swell was only just nudging 2ft on the biggest of sets. Still, there was plenty of action in the water with the locals grommets mixing it up with the Pro's. So good to see the grom's stepping up their game.
