Hump

Pool & Bay

Hump day is upon us, from here on in we're sliding towards the weekend - Hoot hoot!  While the weather has a wonderful spring feel to it, the sun is warm and the water cool and refreshing, the news cycle this week is a reminder us of the complex world we live in and the dumb luck that put us here and not in some other position or circumstance.

Excuse the political discourse but I'm going to share my thoughts on the referendum. Feel free to jump head to the salutation below if you've had enough, I get it. The opportunity to finally acknowledge, in our nation's founding document, the original peoples of this land that we love and call home shouldn't be taken lightly. It's a tremendous opportunity to embrace the ancient cultures and connections that existed on this land and include them in the modern nation that has been built upon it. The Voice isn't only about closing the gap of disadvantage, it's about closing the gap of understanding. In the words of Noel Pearson, it's a gift to all Australians, now and for the future. I doubt we'll get another opportunity for a very long time. I have to say, I'm disappointed that the Liberal Party has opposed the proposal as they could have been part of the process through the nature of the question put to the people. The logic behind the No campaigns idea of division is potent but baffling; I'm yet to have it explained to me with any intellectual rigor.  This issue isn't about winning or losing, it's about doing the right thing and progressing. I truely hope this time next week, as Australian's, we've sided with progress.

Tomorrow's going to be warm; 31 degrees.

Enjoy the day.... see you out there.
