:: Whale Watch

Sunday's in Sydney are pretty laid back.  But when you get a call that there's a whale hanging out out with the surfers over the hill, it's time to drop everything and go take a look.  The whale must have caused quite the social media storm because by the time I hit the water the beach was lined with people, there was a chopper filming from above and a permanent escort of board riders, swimmers and paddlers. The Southern Right Whale, the same type of whale that featured in this famous picture by NatGeo photographer Brian Skerry, was just cruising The Beaches.  Apparently they're pretty curious, and this guy was certainly in no rush taking the time to hang out and check us all out between Freshwater and Long Reef.

On the beach this morning it was cold!  Real cold!  Must been the coldest morning of the year so far.  There's a hint of South Swell filtering in to Queenscliff so I suspect the South facing beaches would have a bit more size.  More South Swell tomorrow.
