I can't remember the last time I've woken up and seen offshore conditions.   This morning the waves were groomed with a light Westerly and it was so silky smooth;  I hardly recognised the ocean it's been so long between offshores! Out front of the contest site there is a truckload of sand, maybe too much right now but with a lot of water moving around it'll hopefully shape some banks ready for the weekend.  The young rippers are slowly filtering into town and the performance level in the water is hotting up.  Ben Macartney just posted his first contest forecast over at Coastalwatch.  Go check it out.
