:: Cold Sunshine

Freezing morning on the beach this morning; I could hardly stand holding the cold steel of the camera lens.  The sky was clear and for the first time in a few days there was some welcome sunshine at dawn which didn't help to warm things up much! There's some nice clean waves about this morning and 3-4 feet of leftover SSE swell.  The banks are in pretty good shape considering the battering they received on Wednesday and there's a nice light offshore keeping surface conditions clean as a whistle. We got a huge long weekend coming up in Manly with the 25th Annual Snowy McAlister longboarding event to be held Saturday through to Monday.  The Manly Mal Club has attracted a world-class field of competitors this years with some serious prize money up for grabs.  Get down under the Norfolk over the weekend and check out the action.  This years event will feature a Log Division for the first time with competitors judged on style and aesthetic approach to riding waves.   Going to pretty watch and hotly contested!

Bellyboard Art Exhibition We've rounded up some of the most talented local artists and asked them to create unique works of art using a Vintage Bellyboard as a canvas.  The works will be on display all long weekend at The Belgrave Cartel with a launch party tonight from 7pm.  Come in, check out the artworks and grab a drink to kick off the long weekend.  Check out the event page on Facebook

Bruce Paterson passed away yesterday after an extended fight with cancer.  So many people recognise Bruce's familiar figure has he made his way from his Allambie Heights home to Manly Beach and back again dressed head to toe in rubber.  He touched and inspired so many people in Manly and his presence will be missed amongst the early birds in the morning.
